The stunning new debut of the statuette that will be presented to winners of the Drama Desk Awards. (Drama Desk Awards)

The 65th annual Drama Desk Award nominations were announced live this afternoon at 2:00 pm on the live stream daily talk show Stars in the House. Seth Rudetsky and James Wessley, hosts of Stars in the House, announced the nominations. The winners will be announced on May 31.

Leading the pack with 11 nominations was the Leigh Silverman directed Soft Power, an Off-Broadway musical by David Henry Hwang and Jeanine Tesori that played the Public Theatre in September 2019. They were followed by MCC's musical The Wrong Man with nine nominations and Halfway Bitches Go Straight to Heaven with eight nominations.

The nominations took into consideration Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway shows that opened before March 11.

Stars in the House, which officially kicked off on March 16th is a daily series that features stars of stage and screen singing and performing live (from home!) to promote support for The Fund’s services for those most vulnerable to the effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Joining Seth and James for the shows is Dr. Jon LaPook, chief medical correspondent for CBS News. Visit starsinthehouse.com to donate to The Actors Fund, watch previous episodes, learn about upcoming guests and more. Since the first show, Stars in the House has raised more than $188,800 to benefit The Actors Fund.
