NBC and Mark Platt Producing WICKED 15th Anniversary TV Special Reuniting Kristin Chenoweth and Idin

The cast of WICKED The Musical (Joan Marcus)

"What is this feeling, so sudden and new?" It was announced earlier this week that the Broadway musical WICKED will host a TV special on October 29th, the eve of its 15th-anniversary show (October 30th). This special which is presented on NBC and produced by Mark Platt (one of WICKED'S producers) will be titled A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway. The show will be filmed live in front of a studio audience at the Marquis Theater in Times Square. It will premiere at 10 p.m. EST. We will keep our readers updated on how to obtain tickets for this live special!

Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, the shows two original stars, will reunite to host and perform during the evening. Other performers set for the evening are Ariana Grande (a WICKED superfan!) the popular acapella group Pentatonix, and the current Broadway cast (led by Amanda Jane Cooper and Jessica Vosk), and more performers to be announced soon!

WICKED opened on October 30th, 2003 at the Gershwin Theater (where it remains today) and has since gone on to play over 100 cities in 14 countries. It has become Broadway's sixth longest-running show, and has grossed over $4.5 billion in global sales and has been seen by over 55 million people worldwide.

WICKED won three Tony Awards in 2004 including Best Actress in a Musical (Idina Menzel), Best Costume Design (Susan Hilferty) and Best Scenic Design (Eugene Lee). In what was (and still is) considered an upset, the show lost Best Musical to underdog Avenue Q, which just celebrated it's 15th Anniversary in July, and has been running off-Broadway at New World Stages since its Broadway closing in 2009.
