INTERVIEW: "Any Dream Will Do!" JC MCCANN Talks Starring As "Joseph" In The Nati

Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" rocks it's way into Philadelphia with a new take on this smash musical hit! The star of it all, Wyoming native JC McCann gives us a glimpse into the look of this new show with a redesigned set, and a BRAND NEW look to the famous "Dreamcoat." Check out our interview below with JC!

What has the experience been like to star as Joseph " in " Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat? Just a year ago, I was working in the oilfield in Wyoming and dreamed of being in a big production. When I landed such an iconic role as Joseph, it was truly a dream come true. I've been able to learn so much and have a blast along the way. Which city are you most excited for? I just had a press day in Philly and had a great time seeing the city and all it has to offer, so I have to mention that I'm excited to go back for the week and do some more exploring. I'm also excited for Cheyenne and Gillette Wyoming as I am from Wyoming and will have a lot of friends and family at those shows. What is different about this production compared to the others? The creative team led by Tony award winner Andy Blankenbuehler, has really created a fresh new look for this show. He has revamped the Prologue and added modern dance inspired by hip-hop all while staying true to the classic show that everyone loves. This really makes Joseph even more relevant to today's audience. Can you tell us about this new "Dreamcoat" design for this production? What is new about it? Our version of the iconic coat was designed by Jennifer Caprio and is designed after Chagall's famous stained glass windows in Jerusalem. The coat is stunning with immaculate hand crafted detail and includes all 29 colors mentioned in the song, Joseph's Coat. I always joke that the coat is the true star of the show! What is your favorite song from the show? I have to go with, Close Every Door. Everyone has that moment where they truly reach rock bottom and are looking to anything for hope and inspiration. It is so rewarding to perform this song and take the journey from the lowest of lows to eventually finding the hope and will to go on. Describe the show in 3 words... Extravagant, inspiring, fun.
